The Australian National University is unquestionably Australia’s leading university. Like many universities, they are asking how they should position themselves in a dynamic educational environment where students’ needs are changing as fast as the demands of employers.
The insight
ANU should be very proud of its heritage and its academic achievements but it needs to proclaim its achievements boldly and confidently.
The solution
We modernised the presentation of their crest and gave it greater dignity, without altering its shape or features.
We took the initials ANU out of the logo and created a bold graphic device. The shape creates a window for bold and confident imagery. It’s a window on the wall of ANU achievements.
And we created a clear information hierarchy that shows how every school, department and research centre fits within the university, all building the ANU brand.
The new identity received a merit in the global ReBrand 2012 awards.
