A fair chance for all?
In Australia, one-third of people born into a low-income family will remain in a low-income bracket for the rest of their lives – held back by postcode, privilege, or class. Fair Chance Initiative aims to remove the barriers to employment and ensure talent from all backgrounds can access opportunity.
The power of unconscious biases
Too often, entrenched social inequality is hidden in plain sight, with unconscious biases preventing people from being employed. Working with our longstanding client Social Ventures Australia, a key supporter of Fair Chance Initiative, we aimed to spark a national conversation and encourage employers to challenge their biases and share Australia’s opportunity.
‘At SVA, we believe everyone deserves a fair chance of secure and fairly paid work. We’re pleased to support this initiative which aims to remove the social barriers that lock people out of good jobs.’ – James Toomey, CEO, SVA
An inclusive, empowering identity
We developed Fair Chance Initiative’s visual identity, working within the brand elements of Social Ventures Australia. This included a new logo, device, imagery style and typography, as well as campaign line exploration and messaging. Resulting in an inclusive, empowering identity to constructively challenge people.
Challenging your biases
Celebrating the idea of ‘Challenging your biases’, bold typography and varied letterforms represent diversity and the potential for equal outcomes. While a vibrant, human-centred visual system stands out against traditional workplace campaigns, reinforcing the idea of a collective responsibility for economic mobility.
Engaging employers and building community
With a new identity in place, Fair Chance Initiative is now focusing on sharing good, innovative practice directly with employers through workshops, research, resources, webinars and case studies. As well as building a Community Practice for DEI, HR and ESG practitioners to share their experiences and learn from one another.
